Diamond Member: Mrs. Verna J. Henderson
75 Years of Timeless Service
Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated celebrates their first diamond Mrs. Verna James Henderson. This unique honor of merit is bestowed upon Alpha Kappa Alpha women who have given to the organization 75 years of timeless service to their communities on the local, regional and interna-tional level. Mrs. Henderson led a distinguished career as an Educator, im-pacting the lives of hundreds of Atlanta Public school students prior to her retirement as Principal. She is a member of Radcliff Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Henderson joined the sisterhood of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority In-corporated as a member of Alpha Pi Chapter, on the campus of Clark Uni-versity on December 21, 1938. Mrs. Henderson holds the distinction of being a Diamond Soror (75 years) and Life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She has served on the National Nominating Committee, South Atlantic committees, sickle cell and others.
She served two terms as president of Kappa Omega chapter holding high the torch of service. She has served as Chapter committee Chairman of Membership Intake, Founders’ Day and the Emerald Extravaganza Scholar-ship Luncheon. Soror Henderson has attended Boules and Regional conferences receiving regional awards, and recognition for her servant leadership commitment. She served as a mentor to many Alpha Kappa Alpha women.
